1. Executive Summary
Loadout is built from the ground up with a strict offline-first architecture. We believe that your health, workout, and nutrition data is deeply personal and should remain entirely under your control. We do not require accounts, we do not log your information on any servers, and we collect no analytics.
2. Data Collection and Usage
All data you enter into the application is stored directly in a sandboxed SQLite database on your mobile device. This includes:
- Workouts & Exercises: Sets, repetitions, and weights.
- Nutrition logs: Logged food items, quantities, recipes, and daily macro/fiber intake goals.
- Body Metrics: Scale weigh-in history and girth measurements (arms, waist, chest, etc.).
We cannot access, read, edit, or delete any of this data. It never leaves your phone unless you manually choose to export a backup.
3. Voice Logging and Speech Processing
Loadout includes a voice logging feature to let you log workouts and meals hands-free. This operates under strict privacy guardrails:
- Local Processing: By default, speech is transcribed locally using your device's built-in on-device transcription engine.
- Network Fallback: If on-device transcription is unavailable, the app will request to use your operating system's network-based speech recognition (provided by Google on Android or Apple on iOS). The app displays a notification alert before falling back to network transcription.
- No Audio Storage: We never record, upload, or store your voice audio files on any servers.
4. Device Permissions
To deliver its core features, the app may request specific system permissions:
- Microphone: Used only when you tap the voice logger to dictate workout or meal data. Active microphone recording is always indicated by a recording state overlay in the app and your operating system's native status bar indicator (e.g. the green mic dot).
- Notifications: Used only to show rest-timer notifications and manage active sessions in the background.
5. Backups & Data Portability
Because all data is on-device, backing up your data is under your absolute control:
- JSON Exports: You can export a plain JSON backup at any time from Settings > Data & backup. You choose where to save this file (e.g., local file system, personal Google Drive, or iCloud).
- Permanent Deletion: You can clear your entire database or delete individual sections granularly inside the app settings. Wiping your data leaves no trace of it anywhere.
6. Third-Party Services
Loadout contains no third-party advertisements, no SDKs from advertising networks, and no analytics software (such as Firebase Analytics or Mixpanel). Your app usage remains completely anonymous.
